Patchnotes

General
We have made a decision to remove the +20% HP raid buff from current and future content.
• We have resolved a few issues causing the server to crash.

Dungeons
 BWL
Technicians in Firemaw room's left alcove are now linked with the rest of the group.
Will you do 4x XP again?
Mode: We hear you, the XP event will start today on 12:00 p.m. AEST and will end on the release of patch 1.12.
As per normal you will be able to activate this service on the XP NPCs at level 6 for free.

Will there be open transfers from other realms?

Mode: No, not at all.

Do you have an estimate of when TBC will be released?
Nolin: We aim to launch patch 2.0 in the first quarter of 2019.

Given the answer to my previous question of TBC Release, Do you have a timeline for Vanilla?
Nolin: We will be releasing patches in batches as we know we are close to releasing TBC,
November 14th we will go to Patch 1.9, and December 12th we will go to 1.12.

How are you going to manage the Arena rankings? It will be impossible to get weapons & shoulders due low pop.
Qoth: We will likely adjust the rating based on the servers average rating.
What that exactly is we cannot say but there are a number of options.

Keep in mind that the earlier seasons did not have any rating limitation on weapons and shoulders.

With the lessened amount of teams in arena, will the matchamking be edited to expand the search to allow for games?
Mode: If I am understanding your question correctly, You are asking if we will allow lower ranked teams to match against
higher ranked teams to ensure games are played.
That is not something we thought of but will take it on board.

As we get deeper into TBC the attunement requirements for raids stack up over time to very high level.
Players who started from the beginning will be fine but on a low pop server if you miss the first wave,
it will be very difficult to obtain the required reps and attunments as they are very extensive.

Qoth: We do not currently have any plans to modify attunements outside of what patches do.

Are you using a progressive patch system for TBC?
Nolin: NPC spawns, quests, world events, dungeons and BGs will be progressive.
Items, loot tables and maps wont.

Will the current Vanilla Character Database be used to migrate over to TBC?
Mode: Yes as previously mentioned all toons, gold and items obtained will be migrated to TBC.

When patch 2.0 is released, will the vanilla content XP be boosted? I seem to remember this happening at some point.
Nolin: As we offer an increased XP rate already, there is no need for this.

Have you planned the release of TBC, are you ready for it, can the server handle it?
Last thing players would want to experience is crashes non stop on release day!

Nolin: Yes we have spent a lot of time preparing for launch,
a lot of discussions around how to handle it and what could go wrong.
We are ready, our infrastructure is specced far beyond the expected population.

We are constantly working extremely hard to finalise the core,
polishing scripts to ensure everything at launch and beyond is as stable as possible.

How much testing / development time has gone into TBC?
Nolin: We have been through over 10 TBC projects and we were invited to assist a project
that has been in development for over 9 years which has provided us an insane boost
in progression to get TBC ready for you all.

We can't thank them enough for allowing us to be a part of their project,
and allowing us to use and refine their code for our needs.

What type of population are you expecting / hoping for?
Mode: We would like to have a few hundred on the server, we know a lot of people are waiting for TBC.
The dream is over 1K, but 300-400 is what we expect.

TBC Development

Finally, The Burning Crusade release date is.... Just kidding had ya going
As part of our monthly newsletter we have comitted to provide on going updates on our progress with the TBC Core,
The main purpose of this is to keep you informed and so everyone stops asking Mode.

- Raid testing was completed. We are now in the process of porting Raid Content from our Old Core to the New Core,
Raids of course will be restested after this.

- Class testing has been completed, and we are working on a few niggling issues.

As we have always stressed,
The release of content patches is directly related to how TBC Core Development is progressing,
So you can relate to how fast patches come out to how far we have come.

So sit tight and enjoy the ride. Remember if you think it is a bugged (Undocumented Feature),
Please report it to GitHub!

As always, have a safe flight, and thank you for flying Barrens Airways.
Hello Barrens!

Wow what a 2 months it has been, First off from all of the staff, We would like to thank you for playing here.
We know we have been through some rough patches but we appreciate your patience in letting us resolve all issues!

Let's go over a quick recap of what has gone on

- We have progressed to Patch 1.5.
- Ragnaros and Onyxia have been slain.
- Nearly half the player base lives in Dire Maul!
- Hunters are the strongest class in Warsong Gulch pats Lupos.
- We have welcomed a new Dev to the team (Exarch) to assist us in bug fixes and TBC Development.

Now.. We would like to provide you all with some insight into what is going on with our TBC Development.

It has been a long road with vigorous testing, Our team has been hard at work doing end to end testing of
everything and we have been making teremendous strides.

No this is not an announcement with a release date, because giving one currently is unrealistic,
But I can provide you with a few teasers.

- We have a working stable core
- Quest and Dungeon testing has been in progress for some time
- Raid testing just begun this past weekend.

We currently have a team of 11 testing the TBC Core, and over time we will invite more players to join in on the fun.
(This is not an open invitation to start harassing staff for an invite!)

Patch 1.6 and Beyond

Many people have been asking us about a patch time line for the Vanilla aspects of The Barrens.
The answer is we don't have one, our release time line is dependant on how we are progressing with the TBC Core.

Given we have released a few patches in quick concession it should give you some
positive reinforcement on how we are coming a long with TBC.

There is no hard release date for Patch 1.6 - Blackwing Lair or any future patches!

So sit tight, be patient and good things will happen in time!

Concerned adventurers should investigate Silithus, Un'Goro Crater, Azshara

Items which has been removed due the fact that they are not patch appropriate will be restored on the specific patch!

Welcome to The Barrens, a PvE vanilla realm.

Hosted in Australia, The Barrens will provide a fresh experience for Oceanic players looking to relive the magic of vanilla progressively from Patch 1.2 to 1.12. After the completion of vanilla, we will launch TBC and continue forward into the first expansion.

While we strive to provide as accurate an experience as possible for players, there are a number of custom changes made to the server to provide you with the best experience.

Register an account now and join us on 20 June 2018 at 6PM AEST for our official launch. All players must read and agree to the rules in full before registering an account and playing on the server.

For announcements, information, and to chat with other The Barrens players, please join our Discord server.
